Every time a friend moves into a new place or asks what to put on a registry, I end up sending the same short list. Not the big appliances. The small things that quietly make the kitchen nicer to be in.
Here is the whole list, in the order I would buy them.

The ones I use constantly

Small gold sauce ladles, set of 2
One ounce each, with a spout. I use these for drizzling sauce over something already plated, which sounds fussy until you try it and realize a tablespoon makes a mess every time. They also look good enough to leave on the table.

Garlic Twister, 4th generation
This is the one I recommend more than anything else on the list. A clove goes in, you twist, and three seconds later it is minced with nothing on your hands and no board to wash. It handles ginger and herbs too. If you cook with garlic more than twice a week, this pays for itself in annoyance saved.

ScooperDuper folding food mover and bench scraper
It folds, so you can scoop a whole board of chopped vegetables into a pan in one go instead of pushing them off with a knife and losing half to the counter. It also works flat as a dough scraper. Small thing, but it changes how the prep part of cooking feels.

E far 4.8 quart glass mixing bowl with airtight lid
The lid is the whole point. You mix in it, put the lid on, and it goes in the fridge without hunting for plastic wrap. Microwave, dishwasher, oven and fridge safe, so it goes from prep to storage to reheating without changing dishes. This is the one I would buy first if I were starting a kitchen from nothing.
The marble ones
These are the pieces that live out on the counter rather than in a drawer. I buy marble for the kitchen because it looks like it belongs there whether or not anyone is cooking, and it photographs beautifully, which matters to me more than it might to you.

Creative Co Op marble trivets, set of 2
Two sizes, so a small pot and a large one both have somewhere to land. Marble takes heat without flinching and it does not slide around the way cork and silicone do. They stack when you are not using them, which is why they stay out.

Radicaln marble butter keeper
A French butter crock, 4.25 inches, handmade marble. Butter sits at spreadable temperature on the counter instead of tearing your toast apart straight from the fridge. If you have never used one, this is the item on the list most likely to surprise you.

Small marble bowl
Mine holds a lemon or two and otherwise just sits there looking like it meant to. Honest note on this one: the exact bowl in my photo is not one I can send you to, so the link goes to the closest match I found, a 4.7 inch marble bowl sold as a catchall. Same idea, slightly different stone.

Marble salt cellar with brass spoon
Salt within reach of the stove, in something you do not mind looking at. Once you have salted by pinch instead of by shaker you will not go back, because you can actually see how much you are using.
If you only buy one
The garlic twister. It is the cheapest thing here and the one I would replace immediately if it broke.
If you are furnishing a kitchen from scratch, start with the glass bowl with the lid instead. You will use it every single day.
